The Republic of Korea has launched driverless buses

The first driverless passenger buses appeared on the route in the Republic of Korea. The Korea Times notes that these buses will run on a route of 22.4 kilometers.

The self-driving buses will connect Sejong Intercity Bus Station with Cheongju Easy Station. Regular (driverless) buses will also continue to operate on the line.

The driverless buses have reportedly been assigned special route numbers, and two buses are currently being tested. As a precaution, a driver and a security guard are attached to these buses.

The driverless buses make six trips a day Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. with eight stops. Use of this vehicle is currently free, and all you have to do is contact the appropriate address with a QR code to board the bus.

It is noted that after a three-month trial period, the fare will be set and is expected to be the same as the regular buses.
