Turkic Council organized meetings on the Trans-Caspian Corridor

For the implementation of agreements of the heads of state of the Turkic Council reached during the last informal summit, held on March 31, 2021 in a virtual format, to accelerate the work carried out in the transport and logistics area, and to accelerate negotiations on the finalization of the Agreement on international combined transport and ensuring uninterrupted and unhindered communication with Europe along the Middle Trans-Caspian East-West corridor, the delegation of the Turkic Council visited the city of Baku for consultation meetings.

During the visit, the delegation of the Turkic Council consisting of the deputy secretaries general of the organization, representatives of Uzbekistan, headed by the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdusamat Muminov and members of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Transport Workers of Turkey (UND) on April 5-7, 2021 in Baku held consultations with the authorities of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the facilitation of the transport of goods along the Trans-Caspian corridor (Medium corridor).

In Baku, the delegation met with the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Rahman Gummatov, Deputy Chairman of the Customs Committee Mr. Javad Gasimov, Advisor to the Minister of Economy Mr. Emil Medzhidov, Chairman of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company CJSC Mr. Rauf Veliyev, General Director Of the Baku International Sea Trade Port by Mr. Taleh Ziyadov and visited the Baku International Sea Trade Port in Alat. Emphasizing the importance of the transport and transit potential of the member states, the delegation of the Turkic Council stated that transport, being one of the main areas of cooperation, is intended to ensure the creation of effective and new mechanisms for streamlining transport operations on all modes of transport, with particular emphasis on strengthening transport links along the Trans-Caspian corridor.

The parties exchanged views on creating favorable conditions for increasing the transportation of goods from the member states through Azerbaijan along the Trans-Caspian corridor.

The delegations also discussed the possibility of increasing the transportation of Uzbek goods through Azerbaijan along the Trans-Caspian corridor, as well as the exchange of free bilateral permits for the use of flexible approaches in the transportation of goods; The parties also discussed the issues of digitizing the system of road transport of goods through the introduction of e-TIR and e-Permit systems between the participating countries.
