Turkiye announced that part of the payment for Russian gas will be made in rubles

The agreement to pay 25% of Russian gas supplied to Turkiye in rubles will soon come into force. "Yeni Şafak" newspaper informed about this with reference to Turkish Energy Minister Fatih Donmez.

"Turkiye will pay 25 percent of the natural gas it buys from Russia in rubles. The relevant agreement will enter into force in the next few days," Donmez said.

He noted that this measure will reduce the need for dollars and costs.

P.S. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks in Samarkand last week. According to the Russian leader, during the SCO summit held in Uzbekistan, the parties agreed to pay part of the fuel supply in rubles and to jointly solve the problems arising in the construction of Akkuyu NPP.
