Turkiye declares highest warning level due to strong earthquakes

The State Agency for Emergency Situations specified that the earthquake occurred at 04:17 local time (06:17 Tashkent time) in Pazardzhik district of Kahramonmarash region at a depth of 7 km. Also within half an hour, earthquakes were felt in different regions - Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Gaziantep, Kayseri, Mersin, Trabzon and Shanliurfa.

The magnitude of the earthquake was 7.5. Turkey has declared the highest level of warning due to strong earthquakes.

Al Arabiya TV reported that earthquakes were also felt in some regions of Iraq and Lebanon.

According to Yeni Shafaq newspaper, destruction was recorded in at least four districts of Turkey. Collapsed houses were observed in Kahramanmaras, Malatya, Şanlıurfa and Gaziantep districts. There were no reports of casualties or injuries.

The publication cites images from the region, according to which at least one building was completely destroyed by the tremors.

According to sources, there are people who were seriously injured in the quake and buried under the rubble.
