Turkiye to build 320,000 houses for earthquake victims in a year

Turkiye plans to complete 244,000 homes and 75,000 rural houses for earthquake victims within a year, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

The Turkish president visited the affected provinces. "The fact that these earthquakes, called the disaster of the century, also took place on days when severe winter conditions prevailed, has further exacerbated the negative consequences," Erdogan stressed.

The earthquake-affected regions now have 426,000 tents for bereaved people to live in. Authorities will erect another 100,000 houses from containers within two months. In addition, Qatar has promised to transfer 10 thousand houses-containers to Turkiye. They were purchased for the FIFA World Cup in 2022. 4,000 of these containers have already been delivered and installed.
