Twitter puts user names in auction

According to the New York Times, Twitter is considering auctioning user names to capture a new source of monetization.
It is noted that it is not yet known whether all user names or only famous ones on the network will be put up for auction.
Earlier, the head of Twitter Elon Musk announced that the company intends to delete more than 1.5 billion inactive accounts.
According to information, updated Twitter rules prohibit the purchase and sale of usernames.
But at the same time, the social network is actively optimizing costs in spite of nothing. Also, Twitter has already closed the data center in Sacramento, stopped paying office rent and continues to reduce employees without compensation.
