UN asks for 25% increase in humanitarian aid compared to last year

According to BBC News, the UN has asked donors to increase humanitarian aid by 25% compared to last year. The organization estimates it will need $51.3 billion in 2023.
Humanitarian needs are "shockingly high," the organization said, citing the war in Ukraine, the massive famine in Africa and the floods in Pakistan. The crises in Afghanistan, Yemen and Syria, which lasted until 2022, were added to those disasters, it noted.
Rising food and fuel prices have reduced the purchasing power of humanitarian organizations, and some traditionally generous donor countries, including Britain, have reduced their contributions.
