UN High Commissioner for Human Rights arrives in Tashkent

A delegation led by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk visited Uzbekistan on March 13. This was reported by the National Centre for Human Rights of Uzbekistan.

The high-ranking guest was received by the leadership of the National Centre for Human Rights and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Tashkent International Airport named after Islam Karimov.

Volker plans to hold meetings with the National Human Rights Centre of Uzbekistan, the Supreme Court, the General Prosecutor's Office, the leadership of the Ministries of Interior and Justice and the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.

The UN representative will also visit the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
