Uzbek Foreign Minister and U.S. Secretary of State meet

As reported on December 12-14, 2022, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov is visiting the United States of America.
On the first day of the visit, the delegation led by Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov held talks with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and made a press statement before the meeting.
The head of the U.S. Department of State said of particular importance is the second meeting of the Strategic Partnership Dialogue held this year to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. This mechanism makes it possible not only to exchange views on topical issues of bilateral cooperation but also to determine the priorities of the dialogue.
Ambassador Blinken positively assessed the reforms in Uzbekistan and expressed willingness to provide comprehensive assistance in their implementation. The US Secretary of State highlighted Uzbekistan's achievements in human rights protection, including protection of religious freedoms, combating human trafficking and ending forced labor.
The US Secretary of State highly assessed the regional policy pursued by Uzbekistan aimed at fostering an atmosphere of mutual trust and understanding in Central Asia. In particular, E. Blinken welcomed the agreement between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan to demarcate the state border. "I think it sends a strong signal to many people in the region and beyond about the importance of diplomacy in addressing these issues," the State Department chief said.
The parties' interest in developing cooperation in trade, investment, science and education, transportation and logistics was emphasized.
