Uzbek-Hungarian business forum: initiatives to gradually expand economic partnership

Uzbek-Hungarian business forum was held on 3 October in Budapest on the sidelines of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Hungary; representatives of business circles of both countries participated in the forum.

The opening ceremony was held in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojaev and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary Péter Szijjártó.

At the beginning of the event, Péter Szijjártó said the positive dynamics of relations between the two countries and that the Hungarian government supports initiatives on consistently expanding economic partnership in priority directions, and called on representatives of Hungarian businesses to establish and strengthen cooperation with businessmen from Uzbekistan.

The Uzbekistan officials stressed in particular that Uzbekistan has adopted new development strategies aiming at creation of conditions for business, including visa-free regime, liberalisation of currency policy, further stimulation of entrepreneurship, protection of investors' rights and inviolability of private property.

During the forum, Hungarian companies were provided with detailed information on investment opportunities, including pharmaceuticals, agriculture, as well as electronics and electrical engineering, textiles, automotive, chemical and construction industries.

G2B and B2B meetings between leaders of ministries, agencies, industry associations, banks and leading companies of Uzbekistan and Hungary were also organized during the business forum, at which participants could discuss issues of creating joint ventures and concluding mutually beneficial trade agreements.

Following the forum, a number of bilateral documents, investment agreements and export agreements were signed, opening up new prospects for the development of economic and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hungary.
