Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan: main results of the visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic to Uzbekistan

Kyrgyz delegation headed by the President of the Republic Sadyr Japarov visited Uzbekistan on March 11-12. The visit had an important geopolitical, economic and social significance in the development of relations between the two republics. Important documents were signed and plans for further cooperation were determined. In this article, we highlight the most important agreement reached during the visit.
The beginning of the meeting and negotiations within the limited framework
The visit of the high-ranking guest began with an official welcome ceremony at the Kuksaroy residence. The President of our Republic sincerely greeted the President of the Kyrgyz
Republic Sadyr Japarov. After the ceremony, the Presidents compared notes on topical issues of world and regional politics. These types of negotiations are important as they determine further direction of negotiations. The heads of state exchanged welcoming speeches and expressed similar views on various issues of bilateral cooperation.
Major negotiations and signing of important contracts
After the official entertainment, the negotiations on major topics began. The most important issue on the agenda was the strengthening and further development of trade and economic cooperation. The importance of increasing industrial cooperation, improving relations in transport diplomacy and cooperation in the energy sector was noted. In this regard, the parties agreed to take the necessary measures to supply products that are in high demand in the markets of the two countries, including high added value, export-import operations and the development of foreign trade infrastructure. The important role of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation in strengthening trade and economic ties was noted. In order to implement the agreements in practice, the heads of government were instructed to hold a regular meeting of the commission in the near future. The necessity of expanding the activities of trading houses, holding business forums and exhibitions of industrial products was emphasized. The increase in trade between countries is an important step not only economically, but also has an important geopolitical significance. It was mentioned that the transport sector and the development of transit corridors is an important area of Uzbek-Kyrgyz cooperation. The very fact that a dialogue has started between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan specifically on increasing industrial cooperation and developing relations in the transport and logistics sector shows the countries' readiness for more extensive integration and readiness to enter the foreign market through joint efforts. This will strengthen the position of Uzbek-Kyrgyz products in the global market.
The process of signing documents was held to complete the negotiations for the practical implementation of all agreements. Totally, 22 documents were signed during the visit, covering almost all areas of the multifaceted Uzbek-Kyrgyz partnership. Road maps were adopted to further expand cooperation between Andijan and Osh, Namangan and Jalal-Abad regions, Fergana region and Batken, Naryn regions, which will undoubtedly serve to strengthen interregional cooperation.
At the end of the events, an official reception was given on behalf of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in honor of the visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov.
