Uzbekistan and Turkey have reached an agreement to develop a Road Map

On January 20, 2022, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Umurzakov received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Uzbekistan O. Bekar. During the meeting, the sides addressed the substantive agenda of bilateral relations, including cooperation in investment, trade and economic, transport and logistics.
The developed projects, programs and activities were considered in detail. The parties paid special attention to boosting the number of joint investment projects and strengthening measures to increase mutual trade. In this regard, it was unanimously agreed to accelerate the process of concluding the draft agreement on Preferential trade.
A number of issues concerning the activities of Turkish investors in Uzbekistan were also discussed. The parties canvassed the algorithms for finding their solution and identified the next steps to promote the relevant projects. The Uzbek side expressed its commitment to collaborate with Turkish entrepreneurs and provide them with practical assistance in resolving emerging issues.
Predominantly, the sides discussed further steps to expand transport links between the two countries and develop their transit potential. It was agreed to set up an expert group consisting of representatives of the two countries to develop concrete proposals to improve the efficiency of the transport corridors connecting both countries.
At the end of the event, it was agreed to study the current state of the above issues and develop a separate "Road Map" to implement the necessary measures to address them.
