Uzbekistan jointly with EBRD implements 21 projects worth $ 1.8 billion
On June 7, Sardor Umurzakov received a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) led by First Vice President Jurgen Rigterink to discuss prospects for further cooperation, the ministry's press service reported.
The Agencies for International Cooperation and Development under the MIFT and the heads of a number of Uzbek commercial banks also participated in the negotiations, the progress of projects and the current state of cooperation were discussed.
Jurgen Rigterink praised the reforms in the country and noted the readiness to strengthen cooperation and make investments in new projects.
The parties substantively discussed the progress of cooperation on the implementation of joint projects: currently, 21 projects worth $ 1.8 billion are being implemented and developed in Uzbekistan in cooperation with the EBRD in such areas as energy, infrastructure and housing construction.
At the end of the negotiations, a loan agreement was signed within the framework of the project "Improving the water supply of the Chust, Pap and Namangan districts, as well as the sewerage system of the Chust and Mingbulak districts of the Namangan region" in the amount of $ 70 million.
Through the implementation of these projects, more than 170,000 people living in the Chust, Namangan and Pap districts of the Namangan region will have constant access to clean drinking water.
The investments will make it possible to connect about 115 thousand new users to water supply networks. Thanks to the new infrastructure, water losses will be reduced by 0.6 million cubic meters per year.
