Uzbekistan-Latvia: prospects for the development of mutual cooperation

On August 19 of this year, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan-Minister of investments and foreign trade Jamshid Khodjayev held a meeting with the minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Latvia Kaspars Gerhards, who was in Uzbekistan during the visit of the delegation of the Latvian government.

During the meeting, urgent issues of development of practical cooperation between the two countries on agriculture, food industry, investments, trade, transport and logistics, as well as other priorities were considered.

The parties expressed a unanimous opinion that agriculture could be a priority for further expansion of investment partnerships and increasing bilateral trade.

Also, the prospects for the organization of the trade mission “Made in Uzbekistan” with the participation of representatives of 50 export companies of Uzbekistan were discussed in Latvia. During the mission, the production and export potential of Uzbekistan in the food, chemical, textile, leather, wine, pharmaceutical and tourism sectors will be demonstrated. In addition, Uzbek entrepreneurs will participate in B2B negotiations with representatives of the business circles of the Baltic countries, the International Food Exhibition “Riga Food 2022” and the Uzbek-Latvian Business Forum in Riga.
