Uzbekistan plans to purchase new high-speed trains

According to Uzbekistan Railways JSC, Uzbekistan plans to purchase new high-speed trains from Spain.

Khusnutdin Khosilov, Acting Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Railways, discussed a number of issues of bilateral cooperation with S.L.U. Gonzalo Urquijo Fernandes de Araos, Chairman of the Board of Patentes Talgo, Spain, as well as further development of long-term and effective cooperation.

Particularly, in connection with the development of passenger traffic, electrification of new railway lines (Bukhara - Urgench - Khiva), the issue of future acquisition of new high-speed electric trains was an important part of the talks. This project will be implemented on a tender basis.
Additionally, members of the Spanish delegation visited the Afrosiyob high-speed electric train service center.

P.S: Over the past 10 years, Uzbekistan has purchased six Afrosiyob high-speed trains. Currently, trains of this modification run from Tashkent to Samarkand, Jizzakh, Navoi, Bukhara and Karshi. In the future, after the completion of electrification of the new section of the Bukhara-Khiva railway, high-speed trains will run to Khorezm.
