Uzbekistan - Saudi Arabia: prospects for inter-parliamentary cooperation

Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Uzbekistan Yusuf bin Salih al-Utaybi.
At the outset of the conversation Narbayeva congratulated Yusuf al-Utaybi on his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Uzbekistan and the commencement of his diplomatic mission in our country.
It was stressed in the dialogue that the state visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev by the invitation of the King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to this country on August 17-18 has raised the cooperation in bilateral relations to a higher level.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on further expanding trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia.
It was noted that the inter-parliamentary ties are an important factor in developing bilateral relations and in this regard, it is necessary to intensify cooperation between the friendship groups established in the parliaments of our countries and enrich them with practical results.
In particular, an agreement was reached to exchange experience, regularly organize visits of delegations of different levels as well as establish contacts between the parliamentary committees.
