Uzbekistan took part in an international event in Stockholm

From 1 to 3 June. 2022, the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in the International Conference "Stockholm + 50: A healthy planet for the prosperity of all - our responsibility, our opportunity" in Stockholm (Sweden).
The event was attended by delegations from 137 countries, including 6 heads of state, 3 heads of government, ministers and deputy ministers from 128 countries, as well as heads of more than 30 international organizations, UN agencies and multilateral environmental conventions.
The Uzbek delegation focused on the country's major achievements in environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, solid waste management, environmental balance and sustainable development of the Aral Sea region. In particular, the Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan B. Abidov addressed a special session on "Joint Action Plan for Sustainable Development in the Digital Age." In his speech, he linked the construction of the Aral Sea with the support of the Multilateral Partnership for Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea region, along with other activities in Uzbekistan and the creation of a zone of environmental innovation and technology in the region.
Within the framework of the Stockholm Forum, the Uzbek delegation also met with the leadership of the United Nations Environment Program, the Secretariat of the Convention on Migratory Species of Wild Animals (SCMSWA), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Environmental Department, Global Environment Facility (GEF), Swedish Environment Agency, Environmental Directorate of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (EDOECD), Swedish Waste Management Association, Swedish Environment Institute, as well as held bilateral meetings with a number of delegations from different countries.
