Uzbekistan welcomes Cotton Campaign's decision to lift boycott of Uzbek cotton

Uzbekistan welcomes the decision of the International Coalition Cotton Campaign to lift the boycott of Uzbek cotton. The statement reported from Sherzod Asadov, Uzbek President's Spokesman.

"The boycott, which has been present for more than 12 years, has been lifted due to the fact that child labor and forced labor are not allowed in the country during the 2021 cotton harvest," Asadov said.

"Earlier, the International Labor Organization acknowledged the end of systematic child labor and forced labor in the Uzbek cotton industry," Spokesman added.

"All this indicates that the reforms carried out by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to promote human dignity will proceed and will not go back," Sherzod Asadov continued.
