Uzbekistan will impose scheduled shutdowns of light and gas in frosty weather

"If we do not introduce planned restrictions in such weather, tomorrow there may be more serious losses," the Energy Minister acknowledged the problems in energy supply.

Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov commented on power outages in Uzbekistan. According to him, the current weather conditions require the introduction of scheduled outages to avoid more serious consequences.

"Our task is to provide people's homes with gas, as well as produce electricity at thermal power plants using natural gas and supply electricity. Yes, there are objections. Not everyone gets (gas), there are a lot of blackouts. We admit it, nobody denies it," he stressed.

"If we do not get out (of the situation) with the introduction of planned restrictions in such weather conditions, tomorrow there may be more serious consequences. That is why we are forced to take such drastic measures," the Minister added.
