Uzbekistan – Bangladesh: development of mutual trade

On July 29, within the framework of the visit of the delegation of the Government of Uzbekistan to the People's Republic of Bangladesh, a meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjayev with the Minister of Trade of Bangladesh Tipu Munshi was held in Dhaka.
During the sincere dialogue covering the main areas of bilateral cooperation, special attention was paid to bringing trade and economic cooperation to a qualitatively new level.
Activation of industrial cooperation by establishing joint ventures within the framework of investment cooperation was set as a priority task. This, in turn, allows the promotion of products with high added value, which are subsequently produced, to the markets of third countries.
Agriculture is the largest employment sector in Bangladesh, accounting for 14.2 percent of the country's GDP. In this direction, the parties see great opportunities for cooperation. In particular, during the conversation, it was about the deep processing of fruits and vegetables, packaging, and the creation of production facilities for the production of high value-added products.
During the meeting, they discussed transport and logistics, the restoration of direct air traffic between the countries, the development of cooperation in the textile, leather and pharmaceutical industries, as well as the establishment of a branch of the Bangladesh Textile University (BUTEX) in Uzbekistan. prospects of opening were discussed.
