Uzbekistan's Armed Forces to be weaponized

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree "On measures to improve state management in the field of armament of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the defence industry" on 31 January.

The document establishes the State Armament Commission of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan.

Under the document, the Defence Industry Agency and the State Unitary Enterprise Uztekstrayd under the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade were established on the basis of the State Defence Industry Committee (under the Ministry of Defence).

The State Unitary Enterprise Uztekstrayd is engaged in the procurement and export of military products manufactured abroad.
