Uzbekistan's next steps beyond industrial boycott

The association "uztokimachiliksanoat" organized an international online briefing with the support of the Ministry of investment and foreign trade and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It was attended by about 180 representatives of the textile industry from 30 countries of the world.
The main purpose of the briefing is to provide information to the world community about the reforms carried out in the textile industry and to strive to develop Uzbekistan into a regional textile center with the advantages of cooperation and “next steps in the boycott of the industry of Uzbekistan”.
These speakers were representatives of organizations that made a significant contribution to the elimination of children and forced labour, and then boycott of Uzbek cotton.
The participants of the briefing spoke about the current state of the textile industry of Uzbekistan, business representatives of the government of our country, the comprehensive support of investors, observance of human rights and freedoms, the creation of favorable conditions for labor, and their personal experience.
Speaking about the textile industry in Uzbekistan, experts noted that Uzbekistan is the only country in the world that has managed to completely eliminate forced labor and prevent further growth in a very short time.
Uzbekistan continues reforms and, together with the International Labour Organization, successfully implements the priority tasks set out in the program of decent work in Uzbekistan in 2014-2020. Today, in 2021-2025, a new state program on decent work was adopted in Uzbekistan, in which special attention is paid to such issues as creation of decent working conditions, reduction of informal employment and social protection, improvement of the legal framework regulating Labor Relations.
