Washington: Prospects of international structure development in the Organization of Turkic States summit

The Caspian Policy Center hosted a briefing on the key outcomes of the eighth summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States and the need of transforming this structure into the Organization of Turkic States at the initiative of the Uzbek Embassy in the United States.
The keynote speakers at the briefing were the heads of diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Azerbaijan accredited in the United States. The event, attended by officials, think tanks, NGOs, the media, the business community, and the diplomatic corps, was moderated by SRS Senior Research Fellow, former First Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Richard Hoagland.
The core of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's proposals and objectives presented at the summit was explained at the briefing. The suggestion to create a research center on commercial cooperation between Turkic republics and to construct a program to expand cooperation in the sphere of transportation was lauded by the attendees.
The heads of diplomatic missions also exchanged views on the priorities of elaborating industrial cooperation and promoting trade within the region. The importance of mutual exchange of experience and transfer of innovations, encompassing the creation of "smart" cities, achieving carbon neutrality and the transition to a "green" economy was stressed.
The participants highlighted the magnitude of tourism projects implementation "Turkish World Tourism" and "Tabarruk Ziyarat", as well as the promotion of joint projects in the field of preservation and restoration of cultural heritage sites.
