When Tomatoes Get Cheaper

In mid-April-early May, market prices for tomatoes stabilize. This was announced by the head of the project office of the Agricultural Services Agency Begzod Salimov.
According to the specialist, under the influence of severe frosts observed in Uzbekistan in winter, that is, in January, the ripening and sale of tomatoes grown in greenhouses is somewhat delayed.
If this season tomatoes usually ripen in greenhouses in 90 days, then this year this period stretches to 120 days. This resulted in tomatoes becoming less available on the market and priced higher.
“Now the tomato crop is ripening in greenhouses. And in mid-April-early May, tomatoes in greenhouses will fully ripen. This will lead to its entry into the markets, as well as to price stabilization,” said Begzod Salimov.
