WHO: Coronavirus pandemic extended for another three months

The 14th meeting of the World Health Organization's Emergency Committee yesterday decided to extend the coronavirus pandemic by another three months.

Committee members expressed concern that deaths from COVID-19 are higher than from other respiratory diseases. In addition, low- and middle-income countries lack stockpiles of vaccines against the disease.

Experts conclude that building mass immunity worldwide will help curb the infection. However, in the future, the coronavirus could become a resistant pathogen for humans and animals.

P.S. The WHO Emergency Committee meets every three months.
