WHO: half a billion people could become sick by 2030 due to sedentary lifestyles

It is estimated that by 2030, sedentary lifestyles could cause more than 500 million people on Earth to develop non-communicable diseases. On the other hand, the cost of treating them will hurt the global economy to the tune of $300 billion.

It is said that almost half of the non-communicable diseases expected to occur - 47 per cent - are related to hypertension and the remaining 43 per cent to depression. It also notes that three-quarters of all cases are likely to occur in low-income and developing countries.
