Winter Olympics: Uzbek sportsman broke his own record

At the ongoing Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, on February 13, our compatriot Komiljon Tukhtaev defended the honor of Uzbekistan at the giant alpine slalom competitions.

About 90 participants competed for the Winter Olympic medals. In difficult weather conditions, almost half of them failed to cross the finish line.
Our compatriot Komiljon Tukhtaev was among the 46 athletes who successfully participated in the first and second rounds of the Ice River.

He finished 35th in the first start with a time of 1: 12.77. In the second start, he covered the distance in 1 minute 14.72 seconds and took 27th place, finishing in 29th place with a total of 2: 27.49 in two attempts.

The winner of the ski giant slalom was Marco Odermatt from Switzerland, who accidentally crossed the distance at 2.09.35. Slovenian Jean Kranes finished second with a time of 2.09.54 while French Mathieu Fevre finished third with a time of 2.10.69.

With such result Komiljon Tukhtaev broke his personal record at the Winter Olympics.

Four years ago, he placed 52nd at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyongyang, South Korea.

Following the competition on February 13, Norway, Germany and the United States are leading in medal tally.
