Shavkat Mirziyoyev gets acquainted with the transformation strategy of Uzbekistan Airways

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with presentation of proposals on transformation of Uzbekistan Airways JSC on 14 December.

During the presentation, the head of our state was informed of the strategy of transformation and development of the national airline.

Under the strategy, measures will be taken to introduce a corporate governance system in the airline based on international experience, increase the fleet of aircraft, improve service quality and expand the network of cargo services. The privatisation of the airline will be completed with the involvement of foreign investors on the basis of international standards.

The President endorsed these plans, stressing the need to start implementing them as soon as possible.

- We are ten years late in this field. The airline is working in the old way and passengers are not satisfied with the quality of service. If we want to develop our economy and tourism, this is our only way," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

In particular, to reform Uzbekistan Airways, cooperation has been established with the team of Turkish specialist Ilker Aydzhi, former chairman of Turkish Airlines, under whose leadership the airline has transformed from a regional to a global player in the passenger airline market.
