World-renowned philosopher

On February 9, Nizamiddin Mir Alisher Navoi, poet, thinker, one of the mature figures of world literature, statesman and philosopher, was born.

Navoi's work is studied with great interest not only in Uzbekistan but also in Europe. Navoi's work was thoroughly studied during his lifetime and is still being studied to this day. Thousands of scientific works, articles, works, films, plays and artistic productions dedicated to his work and life have been written all over the world.

Alisher Navoi was born on February 9, 1441 in Boghi Davlatkhan district of Herat, the capital of Khorasan in present-day Afghanistan. His father, Giyosiddin Muhammad served at court of Tamerlane, one of the most influential people of his time, and paid serious attention to upbringing and education of his son. His mother (name unknown) is thought to be the daughter of Sheikh Abuseid Chang, prince of Kabul.
