Worldwide incidence of coronavirus decreased by 17%

More than 2.3 million people worldwide have been diagnosed with the coronavirus between 24 and 30 October, according to a recent announcement by the World Health Organization. Of these, more than 9,300 people have died as a result of the disease. According to the analysis, the incidence of the disease decreased by 17% during this period compared with the week before.

In particular countries in Africa (-39%) and Europe (-34%) recorded significant declines. In the Americas and the Western Pacific, however, the figures increased by 5 per cent.

Also last week, deaths due to COVID-19 decreased by 5 per cent. The disease was reported mainly in countries in Europe (-31 per cent) and the Eastern Mediterranean (-15 per cent). The opposite was true in Africa (+55 per cent), the Americas (+23 per cent) and South-East Asia (+13 per cent).
