Information system for the registration and control of pharmaceutical products has been introduced

The Presidential Decree "On additional measures to provide the population with quality medicines and medical devices" has been adopted.

By 1 March 2023, an information system for the accounting and control of pharmaceuticals will be introduced, providing for the processes from the production of medicinal products to the result of their consumption.
According to the decree, starting from 1 January 2023 all new medicinal products, except those on the relevant list, are subject to state registration on the basis of a positive result of clinical trials.

The following is cancelled:
-Approval by the Ministry of Health of the list of over-the-counter medicines;
-State registration of medicinal substances;
-Requirement of standard samples when recognizing the results of registration of medicinal products manufactured outside Uzbekistan.

In public in-patient medical institutions at the republican level, financed by the state health insurance fund, patients are provided with medicines and medicines through the hospital. This process will initially be implemented in republican level hospitals during 2023 as an experiment. Accordingly, by the end of 2022, a specialist position for the procurement of medicines and medical devices will be introduced in hospitals.

From 1 July 2023, certification of medicinal products for which reference prices are not specified or exceed the specified price is prohibited.

From 1 May 2023, when the price on a purchase receipt is found to exceed the retail reference price of a medicine, a fine will be imposed on the offender.
