The life and work of our forefathers is a real example for us, - the President

An enlarged session of the Security Council was held at the National Defence Management Center, chaired by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

It was attended by members of the Security Council, commanders of the Armed Forces, heads of military administrative sectors, representatives of state and public organizations.

The meeting reviewed the work carried out in 2022 to bolster defense and security of our country.

In the context of current tense geopolitical confrontations, problems in economic, social, political, information security and other areas have become more acute. Complex international situation, increasing challenges and threats to security are also observed in Central Asia.

"We must take all these circumstances into account in order to preserve our most important wealth - peaceful life, to ensure the well-being of our people and determine our plans for the future," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said. - In any situation we are obliged to ensure state sovereignty, inviolability of borders and territorial integrity of Uzbekistan. This is our sacred duty and obligation before history and future generations.

On this basis, the following priority tasks have been identified.

First and foremost, it is necessary to accelerate the digitalization of the Armed Forces, to consolidate all information resources of ministries and agencies into a single secure information space. The National Defence Control Centre will be the core of this system.

Instructions have been given to improve military education programmes in compliance with the best practices, to raise the qualification of teachers, to create a School of Military Engineers.

The task has been set to radically review the system of mobilisation training and territorial defence organisation. The necessity to improve the skills of the command staff in commanding the troops and using the means was pointed out.

Recommendations have been given to strengthen the moral and combat training of servicemen, to inculcate a sense of patriotism in young men.

We do not need to seek power from outside. We have our glorious history, our rich scientific and cultural heritage, they and the life and work of our ancestors are a real example for us," the Head of State said.

In conclusion, the President congratulated all servicemen and women of our country on the 31st anniversary of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan and the Day of Motherland Defenders.
