What foods should be eaten with a weakened immune system?

In winter, many people's immune systems weaken and seasonal illnesses increase. So, what foods should you eat to prevent this? Health officials say it is best to increase the consumption of vegetables, foods rich in vitamin C, onions and ginger, avoiding salty, spicy and fatty foods.
Botir Tozhiyev, director of the Republican Scientific-Practical Medical Centre for Epidemiology, Microbiology, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, gave his recommendations.
The first thing to do is to avoid salty, spicy and fatty foods. It is better to limit consumption of foods containing sugar and caffeine. Instead, you should eat pumpkin, carrots, beetroot, tomatoes, onions, garlic, herbs, dairy products, apples, citrus fruits, lean meat, fish and honey. These products saturate the body with minerals and vitamins and strengthen the immune system.
Onions are one of the foods that increase your body's ability to fight disease. They help to fight germs that have entered the body, stop the growth of cancer cells and boost immunity.
Garlic onions help the body recover from stress and cleanse the liver. It is an excellent remedy for inflammation and tumours.
Vitamin C also strengthens your immune system. It is abundant in lemons, limes, oranges, bell peppers and blackcurrants.
Ginger is a product rich in minerals and vitamins that quickly strengthens the body's resistance to disease. Taking a teaspoon of honey a day is also good for your health.
However, people who are prone to allergies and suffer from chronic diseases should consult their doctor before consuming these products.
