WHO: New Global Risk Statement

According to the World Health Organization, up to 1.5 billion young people around the world could lose their hearing by listening to music through headphones or being in noisy entertainment venues.

Naturally, this is not just a guess or a prediction! Because there is good reason to be concerned. The WHO expert opinion covers studies from the past 20 years. In addition, more than 19,000 boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 35 participated in the study.

It turned out that 24 percent of the participants were used to listening to loud music from their smartphones through headphones. On the other hand, 48 percent of the participants enjoyed spending time in nightclubs with noise levels higher than normal.

Combining these analyses, the researchers concluded that between 670 million and 1.35 billion young people on Earth may suffer from hearing loss.

Doctors believe the most effective way to prevent this problem is to listen to music at a lower frequency and for shorter periods of time.
