Meeting between Uzbek and Pakistani Presidents

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Arif Alvi on March 4 in Islamabad.
The Presidents cordially greeted each other and noted with satisfaction that the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan is progressing in all directions.
In 2022, our countries will celebrate an important date - the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. There have been great successes in political dialogue and cooperation over the years. There is a rapid pace of bilateral trade. Last year, despite the pandemic, its volume boosted by more than 50%.
The meeting canvassed topical issues of gradual expansion of trade, economic and investment ties.
The parties reaffirmed their alacrity to fully elaborate this area of partnership. The President of Uzbekistan suggested using the opportunities of the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technical Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation "KOMSTEK" in conducting scientific and practical activities in astronomy, astrophysics, physics, mathematics, virology and robotics.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his gratitude to Arif Alvi for the hospitality, sincere congratulations and best wishes on the upcoming national holiday - Pakistan Day and invited him to visit Uzbekistan at a convenient time.
The state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Pakistan ended, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev left for Tashkent.
